The current article investigates heroism before and after the rise of Islam and the way it was transfered to Firdowsi's Shahnameh. To this end, first an enquiry is made into pre-Islamic heroism and the inspiration Firdowsi took from it. Second, a study is further carried out into the composition of Fetyan, championship principles with bravery. It is, finally, followed by a study into the rise of paleastraic athletics and its gains from Shahnameh.
